The Dark Feminine helps you stand in your raw, authentic truth. She helps you to live liberated, free and unashamed of who you are. When you open up to hear her, you free those hidden parts of yourself. She will liberate you in the remembrance that all aspects of you are beautiful, welcome and worthy of love.

A few times in running my Women’s Circles I have heard women express their feelings of disconnect from the feminine.
Hearing the terms Divine Feminine and ‘You are a Goddess’ really gets their backs up, is triggering!
Not surprising when what society programmes into us what feminine expression is meant to be (loving, nurturing, accepting, mothering, gentle, pink sparkles and glitter) doesn’t always align with what is present in us.
When envisioning the feminine in only these constructs you may begin to feel that there is no space here for you, you don’t belong. That a part of you is wrong.
You may feel disillusionment and even shame for how you really feel.
All totally valid feelings when you believe you’re alone in not fitting into that ‘neat pink box’.
Newsflash though – none of us do.
And the Divine Feminine is a far cry from neat or boxed.
Nature Nature Nature – We ARE Nature
In any of life’s challenges I always come back to remind myself that We are Nature – and then look to nature for clues.
If you look to nature, it is not all sunshine and flowers. There are times when volcanos erupt, or torrential rain pours, there are mucky rotting trees and forest fires. When this happens, it is a clearing out of the old for something new to arise (usually new species arise after large devastations).
Nature in her wisdom knows how to use all the facets of her make up to release, make space for more, set boundaries, upgrade.
Abundance, regeneration and growth are her defaults.
We have been conditioned to fear the full force of the feminine for thousands of years
Just as nature does, we women have many facets to us, we have a wide range of archetypes who reside within our psyche.
The Dark Feminine is simply another aspect of us. A field of energy that expresses the ancient lineages of primordial wisdoms.
She is the Creatrix of change, healing and renewal.
Her faces are anger, rage, grief, fear, shame, despair. She is all those crunchy emotions we are taught to hide.
Trapped dark emotions
Feeling these emotions and not knowing what to do with them may lead you to shove them down deep inside you.
However, having been pushed down, they still remain there without an outlet, stuck in the body – eventually causing dis-ease.
As you actively hide them down in the dark recesses, this creates even more shame…a perpetual cycle.
And so you begin to disconnect from these parts of yourself and ultimately shutdown.
Additionally, all this pushing down has built up so much energy, which like a massive volcano, will need to erupt – and in so doing can hurt yourself and others.
This is why it is so vital to give yourself full permission to express all your feelings – through verbalising in a Women’s Circle, or using mediums like drawing, dancing, chanting and crying.
These emotions are leading you to something bigger, hidden even deeper within.
They require a compassionate space, so that we can uncover these and heal.
Allow the Dark Feminine a voice in a Sister Circle
If you are ready to express her, you will need a safe environment and have adequate support.
This is why my Women’s Circles are such a great resource. The circle creates the safe container for you to bring all these sides of yourself forward – to be expressed and to be witnessed (free from shame or judgement).
The presence of your sisters bearing witness is an offering of validation
For many of us that is what we need the most, to feel acknowledge and validated for what is alive in us in that moment.
This can be raw, ugly, messy (think snotty crying) or awkward. The Feminine is ALL of these.
You have the chance to just be with these feelings – expressing them without the need to try and fix them or change them. Just to be here with them – as you are witnessed and actively held.
As women, many of us have grown to devalue and even despise our dark feminine qualities
Isolation perpetuates shame. You think you are alone in these experiences and feelings – but sharing circles prove that you very much are not!
In fact, the very opposite is true.
Being able to express all the sides of ourselves without shame helps to cultivate a resilience within us – in how we move through the world.
Thus for the very vitality of our being we need safe spaces to feel our emotions without operating in a binary experience that some are good and some are bad, some are worthy and some are not – ashamed to allow them expression.
Feeling into the Dark Feminine archetype – giving yourself the compassion and the courage to love every aspect of your emotional experience, is an act of remembering the Divinity of who you’ve always been – a complex multifaceted Goddess.
